Honda CB750 “RC42”

 

The customer wanted a classic café racer built from a solid 90’s Honda CB750 platform. We knew this kind of build was nothing new to the custom bike scene, but we also knew this was a chance to create a beautiful modern café racer that would stand out from the rest.
The -RC42- epitomizes everything you would want in a custom café racer. Modern electrics, Brembo brakes, Ohlins shocks with stunning deep green paint and black head to toe racing stripe running-down the length of its spine.


Some of the features include a bespoke top yoke/stem, along with a new hub for the front and rear wheel from Fastec Racing. The yoke incorporates a beveled mount for the Motogadget speedo to tuck nicely into and an engraved BGM logo to top it off.


The exhaust system was fabricated in-house using stainless steel sections and is designed to provide access to the oil drain plug; Nobody wants to have to remove the pipes for an oil change. Suspension includes refurbed Ducati Showa forks anodized gold up front and bright yellow Ohlins shocks on the rear. The tank is original but has a flush mount cap and has been fabricated into a monocoque tail section which hides the battery and electrics. The tail-lights were designed and built inhouse and have become a bit of a BGM specialty. Brake and indicator LEDs are fused neatly into polycarbonate molding’s which provide a sleek finish to the rear of the bike.

The builds name comes directly from the factory model, but the logo has more of a “British” feel to it with the Aston Martin type wings.
With a build of this stature, the bodywork needed to be on point. The deep green colour was a favorite of the owner but wasn’t straight from the shelf. The green and black combination originates from a custom 1934 Ford COE from So Cal in the US. We tried to match the colour from the internet but in the end, it took a lot of research which finally resulted in personally contacting the So Cal Speed Shop in Southern California to get the colour codes. It was meant to be as the paint sets the build off perfectly.


We are proud of this one and sad to see it leave the shop but the good thing is the customer is a rider and isn’t scared to take the bike out for a “proper” blast.
