Kawasaki Z400 “Full Speed”

This 1978 Kawasaki z400 may have taken 4 years to complete, but the vision was always been clear. Build a compact street scrambler that can be thrashed around the country lanes of Warwickshire!

Subtle modifications to the frame allowed the bike to maintain its low mean stance. The motocross seat, rear “boxed” loop and square cut guard follows the flow of the tank ridge through spine of the bike. Cut back side panels hide a battery box under the seat but still allow the twin Ram air filters to expose themselves.

Mesh guards incorporate the twin LED headlight mount and protect the engine from gravel rash. Wide bars with low profile switchgear and a compact digital speedo give the bike an uncluttered feel and a refurbished BMW front disk with Brembo calipers provide a modern upgrade to the original front brakes.

The bike has been finished in an industrial grey with twin Kawasaki green stripes to pay tribute to Kawasaki’s Heavy Industry and homage to its motorcycle racing heritage.

The bike is owned by one of the BGM team and is unavailable to buy. But there have been several requests to build replicas which would certainly be entertained upon request. (POA)
